CG Motorsports Sends Us One For The Road
THERE WAS no missing the explosion of orange that was attached to the flatbed tow truck that slowly pulled into the narrow Active Autowerke parking lot late in the final week of 2012. Like a flamboyant carpet stain in a frat house of rowdy Transformers, this E30 M3 was at once both awesome, and a little appalling.
What could possibly invoke such divisive emotions, as well as a twisted 1980’s Saturday morning cartoon reference about robots from space with binge drinking issues? Once the car was unloaded, sitting under the warm winter South Florida sun, we had our one-word answer. Perhaps the only word in any language that could accurately sum up the reasoning behind any questionable action or decision:
Jager.
BUILT BY our friends over at CG Motorsports of British Columbia, this classic M ride is a homage to the Team Linder DTM car from the early 90’s, and is sweeter than an Orange Dreamsicle. To see it in person is a treat.
But just like that first shot on top of a Las Vegas hotel at your buddy’s bachelor party, driving it is terrifying.
It took one Active Autowerke employee about 10 minutes to finagle this masterpiece onto the front lawn so we could snap some initial photos. Make no mistake, this M3 is a seriously tuned machine. And seriously Canadian.
Part of the magic of hailing from one of the top BMW tuning shops in the Great White North, is what resides within the confines of the engine bay. An S50B32 from the European market E36 M3 would normally cause more than enough mayhem in such a lightweight vehicle, but the guys at CG Motorsports went overboard on the maple syrup at some point, and installed one of Active Autowerke’s own Euro-spec Supercharger Kits. Although we manufacture the system, we rarely see a completed kit in person.

There’s no more room for our flux capacitor upgrade. Real smart, guys.
NOW, ONE would think that this car is pretty much complete. One would be wrong. The guys from CG definitely put together an amazing replica from the ground up, as detailed in their own blog, but when it comes to ensuring that this monster doesn’t find itself vomitting internal engine parts like so many ill-advised “just one more Optimus, then we’ll go” shots after a hard night, they (not so drunkenly) dialed us.
A proper tune is essential to preserving the reliability and performance of such an amalgamation of high quality pieces. And in fending off any buzz-killing Decepticons, we hope.

Here, Zak informs Scrappy that he never really liked Love Actually, but thought Valentine’s Day was phenomenal
So as we head into 2013, we’ll be working on, adjusting, tweaking, and all-around improving this M3 as best as we can. We’ll update soon with more technical data, pictures, and numbers.
This E30 M3 represents the epitome of BMW performance: A supercharged inline 6, stripped interior, and a paintjob anyone who can remember their college years can appreciate. That is, assuming you didn’t drink too much…
Jager.
