Active Autowerke Propels Brazil’s Fastest 135i
EVERYONE WANTS to have a hand in history. Some are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time when the entire world is watching. Thanks to the internet, others just have to do something incredibly stupid in front of a video camera.
Then there are those who actually accomplish a meaningful goal. In music, it may be keeping Justin Bieber out of the Grammys. In politics, it may be actually telling the truth. In sports, it may mean becoming a 4-Time league MVP (Spoiler Alert: LeBron has the 2013 award all wrapped up…again).
At Active Autowerke, our goal throughout our 32-year history has been to bear witness to the very parts we painstakingly develop and manufacture, directly contribute to the accomplishment of a customer’s dream.
Say hello to Brazil’s current Class 11 Standing Mile Champion.

JOSE C. SANTIAGO is the Vice-President of the Race Drivers Association of Sao Paulo, and is no stranger to channeling his inner Ricky Bobby when it comes to speed. Santiago began racing racing go-karts in 2005. After winning multiple regional amateur championships, he decided it was time to test whether this domination would transfer to full size vehicles.
The short answer is, it did. From Drag Racing and Road Racing in his native Brazil, to obtaining his NASCAR license in 2012 here in the United States, Santiago has attempted, and with varying success, conquered every type of motorsport he has applied himself to.
And here you are, thinking you’re the next coming of Bruno Spengler because you know how to drive a stick.
IN ORDER to help showcase his new business, Crazy For Auto, which provides racecar rentals, as well as the importing of motorsports parts and accessories, Santiago recently entered his personal BMW 135i into Brazil’s Standing Mile competition, where he promptly set the National Speed Record for his class, at 253.112 KMH. For us Yanks, that’s over 157 MPH, aka “Damn fast.”
Don’t think so? The feat is more impressive when you take into account the relatively light list of modifications done to the 135i.
There is a reason Santiago turned to the Active Autowerke catalogue of products to modify his car, as well as distribute through his company. He believes in and relies on our proven record of delivering some of the highest quality components in the BMW performance community. In addition to some minor weight reduction, upgraded coolant fluid, and ECU software, Santiago’s N54-powered 135i utilizes the Active Autowerke 135i Signature Exhaust, Active Autowerke Signature N54 Downpipes, Active Autowerke Blow Off Valve Kit, and K&N Drop-In Filter.
That’s it. Those of you keeping count at home should already know that there are still other parts left on the docket Santiago could take advantage of if he decided to.
THE RESULTS speak for themselves in any language. But if you’re more of a visual learner, you can watch the actual run here. The record may or may not fall in 2013, but rest assured Santiago won’t give it up easily. All of us here at Active Autowerke are looking forward to supporting Santiago in his efforts to maintain his chokehold on his title as Brazil’s fastest 135i, as well as his newest business venture. With his help, we should be seeing many more Active Autowerke equipped BMW’s vying for the number one spot.
Hopefully, the history books will have a few new writers.
