Your Chance To Do Something None Of Our Competitors Ever Will…Catch Up With Us
WE’RE ALMOST to the end of 2013. Can you believe that?
With each year that goes by, the trends, topics, and technologies change. Frankly, we’re finding it a little hard to keep up. Everywhere we look people are talking about the newest gaming console (the newest iPhone is known as the 5, but the newest X-Box is the one? Where’s Jerry Seinfeld on all this?), managing their fantasy football leagues (Megatron has won the week for us on more than one occasion), or sharing videos featuring an obscene amount of jiggling skin and…assets.
Meanwhile, we’re just over here trying to make these dad-gum horseless carriages a little faster.
Maybe we’re just old fashioned.
Then again, it’s pretty easy to stay relevant when our products are powering some of the most powerful BMW’s on the road AND the roadcourse. Not to toot our own horn…but beep-beep.
We wanted to take a little time to bring you up to speed on what Active Autowerke has been up to over the past few months. Most of you have probably been following along on our Facebook page, and if you haven’t, you have every right to feel ashamed. Go and Like us immediately.
HOWEVER, even the most devoted of our fans should still appreciate this update. When there’s a psuedo-celebrity releasing a new twerking GIF every other week, it’s tough to keep up with how many races Robert Chang has dominated. But we’re here for you. Let’s start with an intimate, full-page spread…and sorry, but it’s probably not the publication your overactive hormones are hoping for.
Rides of The Month
Even as print rags slowly disappear from newsstands, European Car remains one of the most prestigious and popular magazines available to gear-heads who prefer the metric system. Take the time to read through their feature article, and it’s easy to see why. Peter Wu magnificently conveys the unnervingly comfortable thrill of accelerating through the gears in Blitzkrieg, as well as the old-school soul and character of Chris Ritter’s hardcore E36. Accompanying photos are provided by our friend, and your favorite shutterbug, William Stern. We won’t give anything more away, you’ll just have to read the post for yourself…it’s actually even more well written than ours. Hard to believe, but true:

Racing Around The Clock
WITH Jimmie Johnson recently coming down to Homestead and leaving with his 6th Sprint Cup Championship, there’s been a lot of talk about where his recent domination places him in NASCAR history. Well, in our humble opinion, when it comes to motorsports in general, this “JJ” character comes in a distant second to our man Robert Chang.
If the name sounds familiar, that means you’ve probably attended a BMWCCA event this season, and heard his name announced on the podium. From Ohio to New Jersey to Georgia, this one-man race team has traversed the country in his pursuit of the C-Mod championship. Along the way, he’s set the pace for the field, recording lap times that would be competitive among the much more advanced (and expensive) E90’s at the same events. At the time of publication, he is the current points leader, with the opportunity to clinch the title in hand.
Regular visitors to our home base should know Chang’s car well. When he’s not on the track, his white E46 M3 can be spotted in one of our bays, with Robert working in tandem with our in-house technicians and engineers. Active Autowerke handles the tuning and core fabrication necessary to keep the engine and chassis in-spec and compliant. However, come race day, Chang flies solo. There’s no support team here. No pit crew. No co-driver. Just one man and a borderline insane passion for his BMW. Let’s see Mr. fancy-pants Johnson go through a whole season without a helping hand. Active Autowerke is indescribably proud to sponsor this vehicle, and we wish Robert the best of luck as he completes the series.
Running With The Best
AT THIS point, most of you have been hearing about our latest and greatest iteration of our E9X M3 Supercharger System. Stage 2, level 3, 700 horsepower, 8,000 RPM…numbers, numbers, numbers, right? Well, we’d like to offer you a few more.
We’ve heard the murmurs. We know that many of you have been waiting on some real-world numbers to back up the dyno charts and hype. While we haven’t yet had the opportunity to drag Blitzkrieg out to the dragstrip, M3Post.com member Sirius Black brought out his similarly equipped E92 M3 to the Dig or Roll Challenge at Maryland International Raceway earlier this month. MIR is widely known as one of the fastest 1/4 mile strips in the country due to it’s proximity to sea-level. The cool fall temperatures certainly didn’t hurt, either.
You can find a copy of Sirius’s quickest time slip in his M3Post thread. Thanks to some mitigating factors, his best recorded run fell in the low 12’s at over 120 MPH. To put that in perspective, that’s approaching 911 Turbo, Viper, ZR-1, and 458 Italia territory.
And before you get all up in arms about your friend’s cousin’s former roomate’s neighbor who supposedly owns one of the above supercars, keep in mind there’s plenty more left in Sirius’s set up. This was a 6-speed car on street tires with a novice driver. The 60 foot time tells the whole story. Cutting down from 2 seconds to 1.8 or so should land Mr. Black in the mid 11’s. Adjusting his shift points or timing could net a few more MPH at the end of the track as well. All things considered, we can guarantee that most Corvette, Viper, Porsche, and Ferrari owners would do best to avoid this BMW on the street, should they value their egos (in one of the roll races, Sirius trapped as high as 134 MPH). We’re looking forward to getting some hard numbers out of Blitzkrieg and it’s lightning-quick DCT shortly. Stay tuned.
AND HERE we are. One year, and nearly 1,000 words later, you are now completely caught up with where Active Autowerke stands. Even though we won’t ever claim to completely understand these darn kids with their “snaptalks” and booty-shaking obsessions, we promise we will always do our best to discover new ways to make our cars perform better, and share them with you.
Just as long as you stay off our lawn.
