Another year has passed and it’s hard to not be just a little sentimental. 2014 has been a fruitful year filled with great accomplishments. Instead of listing every single thing we have achieved, we decided to save you the boredom of reading an endless essay of accomplishments and instead we’ll list our top 3. We will also be saving our biggest and most exciting accomplishment for last. So fasten your seat belts because we are about to speed through a year at Active Autowerke. Continue Reading
Here we are.
It’s been quite a journey, and we can’t lie; it’s been a tough one. Project Euro M3 began as more of a dream than anything: Build a fully functioning – comfortable – 500+ horsepower ultimate driving machine. The platform for the ambitious build was arguably one of the most coveted iterations of the legendary marque, the European market E36 M3. Our mission was simple…add a bunch of extra air.
Both in the engine bay, AND the cabin.
For many of us who grew up in the U.S., our first encounter with the country of Taiwan happened when we flipped over the plastic trinkets that came with our Happy Meals, and asked our mothers to read the three little words that we found. Although we couldn’t pronounce it’s name, Taiwan meant one thing to us: fun toys.
Now (somewhat) more mature, “Made in Taiwan” carries a similar meaning, at least here at Active Autowerke. Over the years, we’ve cultivated a profound relationship with a large group of BMW enthusiasts on the island who have some pretty impressive toys of their own…and none of them contain a single ounce of cheap plastic. All of us have dreams. Many of us pursue them. Some of us come close to realizing them.
However, only a select few of us take the meticulous measurements required to not only achieve, but excel at every step along the way. It takes patience, sacrifice, and a lot of luck to make your dreams a reality.
Robert Chang didn’t begin racing to just participate. He didn’t begin racing to escape from his daily life. Robert Chang dove headfirst into a dream that he had little experience in, yet now finds himself at the pinnacle of. All of us here at Active Autowerke are enormously proud to congratulate him on his 2013 National Championship in BMWCCA’s C-Modified class.
Read on to learn how Robert lived out his dream. Learn More
Stopping The Madness
Being able to take a moment to just stop…stop rushing through our daily lives; stop worrying about our finances; stop fooling ourselves into thinking reality television is worth watching…is a convenience many of us fail to take advantage of.
However, it’s important to take that moment when we can. Sometimes, it’s the only way for us to get going again.
Being able to stop on command is also important on the street or racetrack. While we all love to play with power, the ability to reign it in is an essential, yet often overlooked, aspect. When it comes to our Project EURO M3, we expected it to lay stripes on the blacktop not only while accelerating, but decelerating as well. In this installment, we’ll let you in on some of the details behind our braking and suspension set up. Learn More
Passion? Obsession? Addiction?
These words may sound a bit strong to the average person. Negative, even. However, between ourselves and Precision Sport Industries, we like to believe we give obsessive compulsive disorder a good name.
We honestly can’t help ourselves. The stainless steel shine of our hand-welded exhausts? Our reputation. The decimals on the dyno sheet? Our business. Without this perfectionist attitude and attention to detail, we’d be just another result on a Google search page.
When it comes to your BMW, you may experience a certain amount of OCD as well. We get it. You should expect top quality products and service. You should expect in a word…precision.
And when it comes to trusting your neighborhood performance tuning shop, our money is on the one with “Precision” right in it’s name. Learn More
Whether we like to admit it or not, as BMW owners and tuners, there’s a bit of a reputation about us.
We’re of course referring to the fact that the general public views us as extremely respectful and courteous highway drivers who are responsible with our money and time, and probably hold a roughneck, blue-collar 9-5 position at the local steel mill.
If there is a differing opinion out there, feel free to let us know.
One thing that our Bavarian brutes aren’t exactly known for however, is striking an overwhelming sense of fear and inferiority in the loins of our fellow road warriors. Like it or not, the exhaust note of an M3 doesn’t exactly send pedestrians running for cover the way they might when confronted with a modified Viper.
…And that’s just the way Jack Galyean likes it. Besides, what those pedestrians don’t know, is that he just got done wiping the floor with that Mopar monstrosity on the highway. Learn More
